Discover Raas Leela

Tucked away in the charming town of Lorne, Victoria, Raas Leela is a hidden gem that combines rich cultural flavors with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. This modern Indian restaurant at 116 Mountjoy Parade offers an unforgettable dining experience, where traditional Indian dishes are given a contemporary twist. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Raas Leela offers the perfect blend of authenticity and innovation to satisfy your cravings.

The menu at Raas Leela is a delightful exploration of Indian cuisine, with each dish crafted using the freshest local ingredients. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of spices greets you, setting the stage for the culinary journey ahead. The restaurant’s interior is cozy, with warm lighting and elegant décor that adds to the inviting atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot for a casual dinner or a special celebration with friends and family.

One of the standout dishes at Raas Leela is their chicken tikka masala. Unlike the typical versions found elsewhere, this dish is rich and aromatic, with just the right balance of heat and creaminess. The chicken is tender and marinated to perfection, while the gravy is packed with layers of flavor. For vegetarians, the paneer butter masala is a must-try - soft, rich cubes of paneer cooked in a velvety, spiced tomato sauce that’s a comforting treat with naan or rice.

If you’re in the mood for something different, the restaurant’s take on street food is equally impressive. Their chaats, such as the pani puri, are prepared fresh and served with tangy tamarind chutney, offering a burst of flavors that transport you straight to the streets of India. And don’t miss out on the samosas - crispy on the outside, with a perfectly spiced potato filling on the inside.

Raas Leela also excels in its variety of sides and accompaniments. The garlic naan is a fan favorite, lightly charred and bursting with flavor, while the basmati rice is always cooked to perfection - fluffy and aromatic, providing the ideal base for any curry. For those looking to explore beyond traditional curries, the restaurant also serves a selection of grilled meats and seafood, each dish infused with tantalizing flavors that showcase the depth of Indian culinary techniques.

What really sets Raas Leela apart is the level of service. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, making every visit feel personal and welcoming. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, they take the time to explain the dishes, recommend pairings, and ensure your experience is flawless.

In terms of location, Raas Leela is conveniently situated just a short walk from the beach, making it an ideal spot to stop for a delicious meal after a day of exploring the scenic town of Lorne. The restaurant is open daily, offering both dine-in and takeaway options for those on the go.

Many customers rave about the overall experience at Raas Leela, with glowing reviews highlighting the quality of the food, the warmth of the ambiance, and the attentive service. It’s a place where locals and tourists alike can come together to enjoy a truly exceptional meal. The restaurant also has a loyal following, with many guests returning time and time again for their favorite dishes.

Whether you’re craving something spicy, sweet, or savory, Raas Leela delivers an authentic and unforgettable taste of India in the heart of Lorne. With its vibrant flavors, impeccable service, and inviting atmosphere, this Indian restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

  • Food is plentiful, well presented, very tasty and has a good amount of spice. Adi, the owner, is helpful and makes great meal recommendations. The chef, Jitesh, came out and met with us at our recent dinner here to seek our feedback on some new dishes which we very much appreciated and we enjoyed trying his new dishes. Food normally comes out in a reasonable time frame and the staff we dealt with were knowledgeable and approachable. Serving sizes are large so we often have to take food away with us. Have eaten here many times and look forward to returning again. The Indian food here is not your standard fare. It is creative, modern, and super tasty. It's very different and a breath of fresh air for indian cuisine. The chicken biryani comprises two smallish boned chicken pieces and enough rice to feed 8 people. Not very good value unless you feel like heaps of rice, which is a pointless filler Ranjit, Adi's husband is also friendly and runs a tight ship with long term staff. Sid, a waiter is very attentive and super friendly. Good, all round restaurant. On a negative note the women's toilets are a disgrace! One toilet is completely broken and the other is dirty. A complete overhaul is needed as I'd rather go to public toilets across the road than use these ones.

  • I visited this Indian restaurant and had a good experience. The customer service is great and the ambience is really nice. They have not much of food options, though it’s a bit expensive. The taste is amazing. I tried Malai Kofta, which was very sweet, so check your taste preference before ordering and ask for spicy or less spicy if needed. They also have a bar counter. No reservation is needed, but weekends are pretty busy.

  • The food tastes consistent with before, pretty good overall. It feels like a more traditional Indian restaurant, and the service is nice too

  • Went to Raas Leela, on our return trip of the great ocean road. The staff is quite nice, warm and welcoming. They would even check-in regularly if we were liking our food and when it was taking time for preparation- they would come and update as well. Coming to the food - must say, it was quite tasty. Ordered Palak paneer, makke ki roti, tandoori roti, Kala chana salad, and some onions on the side - all for 2 people. Good portion size and really good! The paneer was also very soft and fresh. Other than suggesting to manage parking during peak times, would highly recommend this place if you’re craving for Indian or even if you want to try Indian food!

  • The food, cocktails, and service was delightful. Don’t judge a book by its cover! My girlfriend and I had the Chicken Methi, Paneer masala, a the ocean road whisky sours! The naans and roti were also great - up to standard of any restaurant I’ve eaten in in India!

  • Had dinner for my boyfriend’s birthday there, and I couldn’t praise this restaurant enough. The food and cocktails were amazing. I would say it’s an Indian restaurant with a twist, so don’t expect very traditional Indian food.

  • Must visit restaurant if you are in Lorne or even passing through. The place serves Indian cuisine. Some of the dishes are an amazing twist on some typical Indian favourites like the Samosa and Pav Bhaji. Do try the 'decontructed samosa' and the special pav bhaji. The food is amazingly tasty, and the host and staff are engaging and warm. The preparations are not too spicy, and so my kids loved them. Would definitely visit again when I am in lorne next time.
